As the Agency intensify its operational regime aimed at abating the drug situation in the country, operatives of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency, The Gambia (DLEAG) took into custody twenty-three (23) people arrested at diverse locations across the country for drug related offences.Twenty one (21) of the arrestees are male and the remaining two (2) are females. Eqwually, twenty (20) of them are Gambians, one (1) Senegalese, one (1) Sierra Leonean and one (1) Bissau Guinean national respectively.
Eleven (11) of the accused persons were arrested within the West Coast region, four (4) in Kanifing Municipality, three (3) in Lower River Region, two (2) in Banjul, one (2) in North Bank Region and one (1) in the Central River Region.
CASES FROM THE WEST COAST REGION
53 years Old Salifu Waggeh, 32 years old Chendou Ceesay and 18 years old Abdou Ceesay who were onboard a commercial vehicle were arrested at Kalagi checkpoint on the 15th of April 2025 around 23:03 hours GMT onwards with (35) bundles of suspected cannabis sativa.
20 years old Pabi Jawara a resident of New Yundum and an electrician by profession was arrested with (78) wraps of suspected cannabis resin (hashish) at his residence on the 12th April 2025 around 12:00hrs onwards.
24 years old Lamin Njie was arrested at New Yundum on the 14th April 2025 at around 14:50hrs GMT onwards with (19) parcels of suspected cannabis sativa.
32 years old Alieu Ndure was arrested at Brikama Gidda on the 16th April 2025 at around 11:00 hours GMT onwards with (22) parcels of suspected cannabis sativa.
29 years old Sarjo Saidy was arrested at Brikama Santa-Su on the 15th April 2025 at around 15:40hrs GMT onwards with (17) parcels of suspected cannabis sativa.
27 years Michael Pellie a Sierra Leonean National residing at Brusubi was arrested on the 14th of April 2025 around 18:20 hours GMT onwards with two (2) wraps of suspected kush.
42 years old Foday Sanyang was arrested on the 10th of April 2025 around 22:30 hours GMT onwards with (1) bundle and (6) wraps of suspected cannabis sativa.
18 years old Ebrima Camara was arrested at Sinchu Alagie on the 12th of April 2025 around 15:30hrs GMT onwards with (28) wraps of suspected cannabis sativa.
30 years old Kebba Drammeh was arrested at New Yundum on the 10th April 2025 at around 22:30hrs GMT onwards with (11) stones of suspected cannabis resin and (4) wraps of suspected cannabis sativa.
CASES FROM KANIFING MUNICIPALITY
20 years old Modou Sonko was arrested at Serrekunda on the 13th April 2025 at around 20:32hrs GMT onwards with (1) parcel of suspected cannabis sativa.
28 years old Babucarr Nyassi was arrested at Serrekunda on the 10th April 2025 at around 11:45hrs GMT onwards with (11) wraps of suspected cannabis sativa and some quantities of suspected cannabis ruderalis (skunk).
34 years old Saikou Mballow a Bissau Guinean national was arrested at Bambo on the 11th April 2025 at around 00:08hrs GMT onwards with (2) wraps of suspected cocaine.
28 years old Sulayman Bidwell was arrested at Serrekunda on the 12th April 2025 at around 15:20hrs GMT onwards with (1) wrap and (2) plastic bags containing some quantities of suspected cannabis ruderalis (skunk).
CASES FROM NORTH BANK REGION
21 years old Buba Cham a student and resident of Brusubi was arrested at Amdalai border post on the 14th April 2025 at around 11:47hrs onwards with some quantities of suspected cocaine.
25 years old Saikou Joof a resident of Misiranding was arrested at Mbollet – Ba checkpoint in the North Bank Region on the 11th Apil 2025 at around 17:15hrs GMT onwards with (2) bundles of suspected cannabis sativa.
CASES FROM CENTRAL RIVER REGION
65 years old Alasana Ceesay was arrested at Bansang, CRR on the 11th of April 2025 around 05:45 hours GMT onwards with five (5) bundles, one (1) parcel and some quantities of suspected cannabis sativa
CASES FROM LOWER RIVER REGION
50 years old Hawa Jallow, 22 years old Fatoumatta Jallow and 27 years old Alieu Jallow were arrested at Sare Mawdo in Soma, Lower River Region on the 13th April 2025 around 01:41 hours GMT onwards for destruction of evidence and obstruction of officers for interfering with evidence and equally obstructing officers in due execution of their duties.
CASES FROM BANJUL
27 years old Assan Gomez was arrested at Perseverance in Banjul on the 14th April 2025 around 12:40 hours GMT onwards with (14) wraps of suspected kush
25 years old Djimba Thiam a Senegalese and a driver by profession was arrested at Banjul Ferry Terminal on the 15th April 2025 at around 15:20hrs with (168) pills of ecstasy pills.
All the suspects are currently in custody while further investigations continue.
